personal assessments
The Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) is the gold standard among tools assessing human abilities or aptitudes. Abilities are inherent in all of us and can be objectively measured after the age of 14. Abilities differ from skills, which can essentially be developed and enhanced through practice and life experience.
Developed from the pioneering clinical studies of Johnson O’Connor, the HAB is a three-hour objective inquiry into the abilities and ability patterns of the individual who completes it.
The HAB consists of 19 different worksamples. Each worksample is timed to measure the speed with which an individual is able to do a particular series of similar tasks. The individual’s score on each worksample establishes whether a particular task is more or less easy for that individual. Shown together on a personal profile and bar chart, the scores achieved by each individual reveal patterns or “clusters” of abilities that require analysis by a skilled interpreter. Once these patterns or “clusters” are understood, the individual is more equipped to guide his life and work into more productive and satisfying channels.
The HAB is unique because it does not depend on self-analysis or self-assessment, but rather measures performance based on objective responses to a set series of worksamples.
blūm associates are specifically trained and certified to administer the HAB and provide in-depth individual feedback sessions and interpretation of the results of each assessment. The HAB can be utilized in custom, individualized settings, and/or as part of a larger, group feedback session.
