01.29.10 blūm's Group Facilitation Workshop Clarifies Business Processes

blūm was recently called upon to help facilitate a series of meetings designed to discuss and document business processes for a corporate-level human resources team. The team was comprised of members from around the globe who had come together for the specific purpose of establishing a clear understanding of the new hire process, internal promotion process, and employee termination process. As part of this effort, blūm facilitated small and large group discussions, developed process maps, recorded action items, and derived a narrative that corresponded to the process maps.

Prior to the facilitation, blūm worked with stakeholders to obtain contextual knowledge of the business situation — such as the business problems, the parties involved, and the differing views of the current processes — to help navigate the discussions. blūm’s role as facilitator was to guide the dialogue and then document the conclusions, while relying on the subject matter experts to provide the intellectual capital. The final documents that were created by blūm served as a reference point for the team moving forward. blūm also facilitated the resolution of the action items through ongoing communication with the stakeholders.
